If the URL does not direct at an image file that Pixlr Editor can handle, the dialog will close and no further without further action. Cancel et OK – Buttons to cancel or open the image.The URL should to point to an image, with normal image extensions (*.jpg, *.png, etc) and not the HTML page on which it might appear. The dialog asks for the URL – Text field to input the URL of the image to open. It will thus have to be saved locally to the computer or in one of the Pixlr Editor recognized images library. The image will open as 'Untitled' since it can not be saved back directly to its origin. This command will open an image from the Web. This command will use the open file dialog from the computer's operating system. This command will open an image from the computer or from its local area network. Cancel or OK – Buttons to cancel or accept the creation of a new image.Default value is unchecked, which will make the initial image white. Transparent – Checkbox to make the initial image transparent.Width et Height – Text fields with value slider to select custom width and height for the image.Presets – Scrolldown menu offering different combination of size for the new image, in width by height.Name – Input the name of your new image, default value is 'Untitled'.If your goal is to cut out an area so that you have a transparent background behind it, remember that you will want to paste your image into a transparent canvas as a new layer *before* you start cutting anything out.This command will create a new image based on the options selcted in the dialog box it will open up. A note about transparency For this second example, I didn't use a transparent background. I've cut out the monument and isolated it. Initially, the magic wand only picked up some of that sky, but multiple clicks pretty easily got me to the point where I had selected all of it - and isolated the monument. I chose to cut the area I had selected - the area outside the monument - out of the image. I start with one click of the magic wand. I clicked the sky area outside the monument a few times more while holding down the shift key and was able to select all of the area *outside* of the monument. Using the magic wand with shaded backgrounds Similarly, real-world images like the monument I've included here that have a relatively simple composition with straightforward shading can be easily cut out. I could then copy and paste into another image if that's my goal. The area selected is outlined with flashing pixels. If I choose to cut the area out with a simple 'Cut' command, I have the robot all by itself. One click with the magic wand, and I've selected the entire area outside of the robot. I started by opening a blank, transparent canvas and pasting the Instructables robot into it as a layer. Using the magic wand with illustrations, logos, and simple photos The easiest images to alter are ones like the illustration of the Instructables robot, which is basically a collection of flat colors with very clear outlines. As I did, hold down the shift key as you click to add more areas (pixels) to your selection. Once you begin using the magic wand, you may decide you need to combine additional flashing outline areas to your overall selection. Adjust tolerance down to make your magic wand pickier about choosing the area you want to cut out. Adjust the tolerance up to make the magic wand select pixels that are even more like the one you're clicking on.
